USA, THE NATION OF ADDICTS

So, we now enter 2008, and what interesting events will confront us? Maybe it would be easier if we all stood under the New Years Eve Ball and let it fall on our heads, putting us out of our misery while we think there is some hope still left? If you listen to the news, we only have to worry about a year and a half and everything will be all sweetness and light. The housing market will recover. Why anyone would want to keep listening to a bunch of snake oil salesmen, I don’t know!!?? Prof. Harold Hill go back to Iowa!!! I just recently read about tent cities in California, because people had to leave their homes. We can’t call them Hoovervilles, maybe we can call them DECIDERTOWNS? America keeps living off paper investments, why I don’t know? We keep sending jobs out of our country so these paper investments will increase in value. It’s amazing, take a blank piece of paper, print a bunch of words on it and the next thing, some buffoon is dropping $40, $75 or whatever dollars on the latest piece of stock. Printing on paper sure beats rebuilding America’s infrastructure, having affordable health care, saving America’s cities, saving our children’s future? When a company can pay an employee in China, India or Vietnam only a few cents it sure makes our corporations bottom lines look great. But what about We The People? America supposedly gave up slavery after the Civil War, this probably was the case for a while. America had to be rebuilt, so there were lots of jobs to do. About 620,000 soldier’s were killed during that war, civilian deaths were undetermined. After all the death and destruction of that war, we now have our slaves living in China, India, etc. making our toys for us so we can afford them. Don’t want to make our brats upset! American’s live in a constant consumer addiction, we can’t just live!!?? Do we really enjoy all this stuff or is it just a distraction? Sadly, I don’t have an oblivious consumer mentality, but collecting has been my distraction from watching this doomed society I live within. My recent distraction is DVD’s. They take me away from this world to visit with alien’s, zombies and fantasy world’s of various thought and form. To think that I’d rather live in a world where flesh eating zombies exist, instead of 300,000,000 Americans who think keeping their mouth shut and sitting at home watching some sporting event or some latest insane reality TV show is the way to exist! Which is more terrifying????? The American Debt Addict still appears not to have overdosed, the injections just keep get larger and more often! The only problem is when that final pill, dose or hit creates a world of pain and terrible remorse for what could have been. Shoulda, coulda, woulda!!!!? I’ve had similar themes in the past.
