Lynn Petrovich has graced the pages of CS2 for quite some time now. Lynn goes under the moniker “The Green CPA” because she runs a year-round tax clinic in a low-income community at the Jersey Shore where she meets “the most wonderfully diverse and engaging citizens of this nation.” Lynn’s writing is as original as it is engaging, usually with a dose of self-deprecation and humor thrown in for good measure.
In our September issue Lynn wrote an article titled Hospital Accounting: It’s Complicated with the sub-title For the Love of Universal Health Care. A national website picked up the article and gave it wide distribution. It was noticed by people at the Yale University Medical School who contacted her to speak at that school. The picture accompanying this article is the poster which announces Lynn’s appearance at Yale on Monday November 1st.
I admire Lynn’s brand of activism as much as I do her wonderful essays. She’s a great ambassador for the Single-Payer movement. She knows that only by changing people’s minds on the topic will it ever come to fruition. We know she’ll knock ‘em dead at Yale as she does every month in CS2. We can only say that we are proud to know her and be associated with her.
So dear reader, please take the time to click on her essay above. And when you’re finished, check out her follow-up from the October issue: The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. When you’ve done that I’m sure you’ll be as big a Lynn Petrovich fan as I am.
